This blog is going to follow Federico Macheda's career as he breaks into the Manchester United team and establishes himself as a football superstar.

Macheda is the most exciting young player I've seen in a while and I think he's going to be a huge superstar in the future - and I'm going to document the ride right here.

Housekeeping - although I'm sure none of you will have thought that this is the official Federico Macheda blog, I need to state clearly that it's not: This blog is about Federico Macheda, not by him.

About Me

Well, I'm a Manchester United fan. I'll admit I'm not a hardcore supporter - I'm more a fan of the Premier League in general - although I've been following Man Utd since the early 1990s.

Most people hadn't heard of Federico Macheda until he burst onto the scene with an amazing match winning goal against Aston Villa on 5 April 2009.

I had heard of him before this, but he was really just a name on paper to me and I didn't have any idea of what he's capable of. So I was stunned by the goal along with everyone else.

Why A Federico Macheda Blog?

I've been thinking about launching a football related blog for a long time, but couldn't work out what angle to take. There is so much already being written about football that it's hard to see a place where you can add value. I mean does anyone really want another Cristiano Ronaldo blog?

When I saw the goal, I thought: no-one knows anything about Federico Macheda, so why not create a blog which digs into his history and follows him through his career.

A Federico Macheda blog may help fill a gap in the information that's out there about him - okay maybe that's a little grand, but hopefully I can tie the information out there together in one place, making it easier to find.

Of course, I'm going to enjoy writing about Federico Macheda and that's probably the most important thing. :)
